Great user experience and excellent support
In terms of experience, we've had a really good one. The learning resource it provides and enhancement to our student's experience.
Vorteile
Panopto is reliable and easy to use. Well featured and flexible, Panopto is integrated into our VLE, and used thoughout our institution. Panopto's personal capture tools make it easy to get started creating educational video resources.
Nachteile
Automatic captioning could work better - and transcripts need a fair amount of editing. But hope this will improve as Panopto update their software.

Panopto is a really great video/recording tool
Our institution has really benefitted from having Panopto as our enterprise lecture capture solution and adoption has soared since the quarantine--it's extremely useful for online learning, as well as hybrid and flipped classroom situations.
Vorteile
We really like the versatility of the product. The results can range from a simple narrated presentation to a multi-sourced production. Access to the sessions (or folders of sessions) can be tightly controlled or open to the public, as well as anywhere in between. It's nice that sessions can be recorded offline and then uploaded to the server at the creator's convenience. There are some really cool integrations available, too.
Nachteile
There are some features that can only be turned on/off system-wide, so a bit more granularity to the feature permissions would be nice. The vendor's development and documentation heavily favors Windows, so Mac users are subject to fewer options/features, as well as less self-help. Panopto offers integrations with other applications, which is great, but our impression is that the developers and technical documentation writers are not too familiar with the practical use of some of those apps (good example is Blackboard), so the published documentation for the integrations is not great and doesn't quite match up with reality.

Freezing
University Student, it is vital for my studies and revision so when it fails it is hugely disappointing and a major inconvenience.
Vorteile
Good when working, I can watch clearly and sound is good.
Nachteile
When something that causes the replay to stop, e.g I lose internet connection, I can never reload the replay video. After this occurrence whenever I click on the replay, all I get is a black screen and the video will never load again. This is infuriating as the replay is then lost to me forever. Major inconvenience and this makes the service useless. I try everything to reload the video replay, signing in and out, turning off computer, but still when I load the replay I only get a black screen that never loads. Major bug that needs to be fixed.

Education Software through Videos
Education at Loma Linda University through Videos . LLU online video storage and delivery service. Integrated with Canvas.
Vorteile
Provides great info and you can replay it many times. They have a greally great support team to answer any questions . Education through videos can be very chalenging because interfacing , however Panopto is really great on presenting and being a great tool for education .
Nachteile
Sometimes can be slow . Not sure is because of internet connection or to many users ?

Simple and effective lecture capture soution
Vorteile
Panopto is a very user friendly tool which scales well and provides a wide range of facilities to capture educational content. Having rolled this solution out across the enterprise it has performed exceptionally well and has met our expectations. The ability to share content simply is a key selling point for our users.

Nothing negative, the system is user friendly, scales very well meets the expectation of boht staff and students.

We have very occasional issues with videos not getting up to the cloud correctly but these are always swiftly investigated and resolved by Panopto support.

Great Application and Great Support
Vorteile
The ease of use. Once it is setup in a room, there are pretty much three steps to use it. Choose recording location, start recording, stop recording, done.
Nachteile
The admin reports could be more robust, but I know that is on their roadmap of things to come in the future.

Great!
Has made my work-life easier.
Vorteile
The support has been very good. Not only when there has been an issue but also when trying to find answers and just cannot find the correct article, they have been excellent at pointing me in the right direction.
Nachteile
I am normally in Chrome throughout the day, so when I need to use the Advanced Editor, I have to change over to IE. It is not a real problem, just an inconvenience

Panopto Review
I appreciate it for what it is. I think it could be improved, but that won't stop me from using it.
Vorteile
This software allows me to watch lectures from graduate school online and through our Canvas course homepage. I appreciate that it allows me to determine the playback speed.
Nachteile
It is not extremely user friendly, especially from a mobile standpoint. I wish it was easier to use on mobile devices.

A Positive Panopto Experience
Overall, I was amazed with Panopto as a student. I am also an educator and would love to use this for my students to actively engage them in content and to have checks for understanding as they learn virtually.
Vorteile
I like that this software allows for individuals to actively participate through video learning. As opposed to just passively watching a video, the option to embed questions that stop the video before answering allows for viewers to make sure that they are paying attention and comprehending content.
Nachteile
As a user, I wish that there was a way for you to review all of your questions and answers at the end of the video, or if there was a way to download and print/share a summary of this information.

Not easy to work
I have spent too much time trying to figure out how to use it. It is definitely not for someone who is pressed for time.
Vorteile
I don't have too many pros to include. I do like that you are able to record a lesson with the screenshot as well as a video.
Nachteile
It is not an easy software to figure out. I have spent a few hours going over tutorials and it is not easy to figure out. I have not yet been able to record a presentation as of yet.

Simple yet robust video capture software/service
Vorteile
Using the integration with our LMS, D2L has been a life saver. It simplifies the process for our instructors to record videos and share them with their students. Additionally, students can record back for public speaking classes. We also really appreciate the automatic closed captioning service. While it is not 100% accurate, it does encourage the use of the captions, which is a nice feature.
Nachteile
The recorder can be buggy at times. Some of our users have difficulty installing it. We would love to see a web based advanced editor as well. Right now there is one, but it only works in Internet Explorer.

Panopto Creates a Seamless Experience to Create, Distribute, and View Course Lectures
The auto-scheduling and auto-publishing of videos to specific Canvas courses is extremely valuable. Other players in this space currently require manually publishing.
Vorteile
Panopto is tightly integrated with the Canvas LMS. We have been piloting this product for four months. We are able to schedule the lecture captures, associate each video with the instructor and appropriate Canvas course, and automatically publish the videos, so that students can review the course content at a later time on nearly any type of device.
Nachteile
There is a cost associated with piloting this software, but it's not too excessive. Many companies offer a completely free trial period. It would be nice to check it out for free.

Fully automated video management made possible?
It made my experience of taking university courses much more efficient, where i could watch classes i didn't attend or watch them again if one time wasn't enough.
Vorteile
Panopto integrates perfectly with existing business processes such as video conferences, with this software you can watch countless time previous discussions, interviews and even webinar or courses too. It has plenty of features that save a lot of time, for example you can search key words or upgrade the speed of the video to watch it more shortly. Most of the work the software does can be automated which enables bussinesses to cover following demands in advance.
Nachteile
As long videos might enjoy great quality the software does take some times eventually to load retracements or advancements in the video playing. Nevertheless, this is understandable.

My overall experience with panopto is very good. It allows me to perform all the actions that I need from a video recording platform

I like that panopto allows you to both pre record videos as well as live stream. It makes it very easy to have all the content in one place.
Nachteile
The thing I like least about Panopto is that the main page has all of the videos that have been shared with you. It does not look the prettiest or cleanest.

Great video capture tool
My first use was to record myself along with a presentation for people who were located around the globe. It was a great solution so that they could easily see me as I delivered my message along with the supporting materials and presentation for them to refer to.
Vorteile
The ease of use and the quality of the recordings are by far my favorite features. From my first video, it was simple to get started and I was impressed at how good the quality was, especially for recording myself as well as capturing what I was trying to show on my screen.
Nachteile
It was a little confusing at first to figure out the save files and how to use those after the recording was complete. Perhaps a little tutorial or resource to make that process a little less complicated or cryptic.

great for recording managing and sharing videos
I have used Panopto to use some of my lecturers to go with the power point slides for a class I was teaching in class but needed to be transitioned into a virtual platform and was satisfied with the features and ease with which I was able to do it
Vorteile
Recently used Panopto to facilitate e learning as I had to transform course content of a class that was supposed to be taught in-class to maintain social distancing. It was fairly easy to record some of my lectures to be incorporated into the power point presentations. It would have been otherwise difficult to explain some of the points without the aid of Panopto.
Nachteile
I really have not come across something that I would like to particularly mention in this context. Editing the videos were a little troublesome but overall I think it did a good job.

Panopto in Higher Education
Overall I have had a very positive experience and would highly recommend Panopto.
Vorteile
Panopto is an incredibly user friendly platform that allows you to quickly and easily create high quality video content. Especially in the higher education field, Panopto allows for course creation that is painless and fun. Being able to integrate quizzes and powerpoints, as well as capture your screen, provides the ability to take your content to the next level.
Nachteile
At this time I have only used Panopto for a short time and don't have any negative feedback to provide.

Recording 101
I used Panopto in the past, but truthfully, our company moved to another tool that is better suited for our needs. However, while using Panopto, I found the features/functionalities quite easy to use and for what I needed to accomplish, I found it the right tool for me. It is nice to have an easy to use tool with support. I find it impressive how much support I find from the Panopto team, consistently receive emails about updates, etc.

Vorteile
Panopto works wonderfully on all of our Apple products recording lectures. Setup is simple and straight forward and so is accessing all the videos online.
Nachteile
Software is a little finicky when trying to learn it and use it and first, but then becomes natural once you understand the progression of how it works.
